Turkey Anyone?

     Lets talk Turkey . . .

I grew up with the "turkey" thing and even claim it as the family bird, but I'm not sure everyone with the surname would understand the humor of it. Perhaps it wouldn't even be understood in other countries.. . .Toni Turk

Some American Turk families embrace the Turkey bird as the family mascot.  Why not? Its a symbol of our giving thanks and our Thanksgiving celebration.  Why is it that others are offended by the Turkey?  Could it be because its a slow, dumb animal?  Well not to worry.  It appears to be a primarily American thing.   We are just not sure it would be understood by non-Americans. For example, the word for the Turkey bird in German is "der Puter" or "Truthahn".  The humor is simply lost on most non-Americans.

I did a family power point presentation entitled "Am I Related to These Turkeys?"  Fortunately no one was offended - but the drinks had been flowing prior to the presentation.

And what about Diane Turk who married Scott Buzzard?  A Turkey marrying a Buzzard? What was SHE thinking?
